Unfortunately I spent the month of July in hospital including a spell in intensive care being treated for Sepsis. Happily, I am now home but initial recovery is focused on restoring mobility and stamina. I do not have the energy nor focus of attention to do much else. Hence I will not be making my normal admin updates to the website nor sending out the monthly newsletter until I feel substantially better.

Updates by other members with accounts will still get made.

    - A plea for help in return for free entry -

Family Ceilidh Oxford is run by one family. Our lovely musicians support us by bringing their energy and enthusiasm while not requiring a big fee. They take home their split of whatever we make from ticket sales and the cafe, after the hall hire. Thanks to them, we can keep the price affordable. There is no profit made.

I used to be on the door welcoming and selling tickets with varying degrees of competency. My other half, Jim used to run the cafe. Now the brilliant Sophie and Graham run the cafe and me and Jim have both been sucked into the band. If you would like to be the person on the door for in return free entrance for you and your family, please send me an email! It would require you to be there 10 minutes before the start and then to stay on the door during the first 15 minutes of the event. After that, you're free of duties :)

Also - Martha our caller and I set up Family Ceilidh Oxford when my children were small. They are now teenagers and the dances don't happen as regularly now, just due to life being full of other things. Are you a parent/grandparent of small ones who could help with the organising, thus ensuring they happen more often? Please get in touch if you think you could help and become part of the FCO family.

    Thanks,

    Rosa
