Come join us for a bal miniscule at the Isis Farmhouse (a lovely food-pub on the river in Oxford) on a Sunday afternoon!
Cost: Free! Though please support the Isis by buying some food/ drink on your visit.
So what can I expect?
A bal is a relaxed, continental folk dance and music session, for everyone. Musicians play, dancers dance, newcomers join, people meet, friends are made. Some dances are partnered, some are circles, some snake along in long, trancy lines. All are lively, soulful, and rich in spirit. At the Isis there's always a chance to grab a bowl of chips and make friends between dances, and some quiet space if you need it.

When should we come?
We'll start at 2pm with a newcomers' workshop to get everyone up to speed if you've never been balfolk dancing before (it's simpler than you think!), and also with a more focused workshop which will be on one dance or skill. Then around 3 we'll start the session (sign up for performance slots if you're a musician!) and then we'll dance until we run out of steam (usually between 6 and 7 PM)
We'll also give a few tips for those who know some figures and want to improve their dancing (focusing on ease and joy!).

How do I get there and what should I wear?
- Soft shoes with a bit of slip work best but aren't essential.
- The pub has no direct road access - come by bike or on foot, or park in Iffley village on Mill Lane or Church Way and cross the river at the lock.
- We're usually in the gazebo to the right hand side of the pub - to enter, go into the main bar area then turn right.

- Dogs welcomed, and there's lots of different spaces to move around in if you need a quiet space too!
