Oxfolk - Oxfolk Ceilidh with The Warleggan Village Band & caller Hannah Moore
Saturday 09 March 2024, 19:30 - 23:00
Hits : 105

The Warleggan Village Band was first convened in 2014 to play for the dance sequences in BBC TV’s Poldark. (The name Warleggan is a nod to one of the dastardly characters in the Poldark books and series.)  The band also recorded music for Netflix’ hit Bridgerton.  Their sparkling melodies, lush harmonies and instant danceability make them a highly sought after group!

The band plays English country-dance music from the 17th and 18th centuries, and they are fresh from the highly successful English Dancing Master exhibition and series of events at the Bodleian Library in Oxford. The band is: Richard Heacock (violin, viola), Matt Coatsworth (violin, viola, English concertina) and Chris Green (fretted strings and keys).

Expert caller and dancer Hannah Moore joins the band with a great selection of dances and a brilliant way of explaining them. Hannah uses non-gendered calls.

Interval entertainment comes from the prize winning Outside Capering Crew - a group of innovative, anarchic and exhilarating morris dancers.

Doors 7.30pm, dancing from 8 until 11pm.

There is a licensed bar with ale, cider, wine and soft drinks.
