Singing In the Sticks
We're a fun and friendly community choir - open to all - based in Garsington, just outside Oxford. (We love "Singing" out here "In the Sticks"!!!) We welcome everyone to come and join our choir. There's no need to read music as everything is taught by ear, all together. You don't have to be an experienced singer - this is the first choir many of us have been part of!
Our choir leader is the very experienced and fun loving Roger Jackson, who is a composer of all types of music. You may have come across him at the Chiltern Community Choirs Festival or the Towersey Festival where he organises the 'Big Sing'.
We sing acapella in 3 or 4 part harmonies (Bass, Tenor, Alto and Soprano), taught by ear and lots of practice. We sing an eclectic mix of songs, with interesting arrangements of traditional folk songs, world music, with a few pop songs thrown in.
We meet on Sunday Nights 7.15 to 9.15pm (registration from 7pm) at Garsington Village Hall, 9 Oxford Road, Garsington, Oxford OX44 9DA. (And there's always time for a tea break, with cake!!!)
