Rising Voices are Oxford's folky a capella choir (although admittedly they do throw in the odd pop song as well..!) and they are holding a special introduction for new members on Sunday 31st May (there will be cake) from 7.30pm at the United Reform Church Hall in Risinghurst. This is completely FREE for new members, so you can come and try us out before you decide whether to join.

Rising Voices is led by Cat Kelly (festival director of Folk Weekend: Oxford and an inspirational choir leader with fifteen years experience in vocal leadership) - Cat teacher all the songs by ear so there is no need to be able to read music; there are never any auditions to join, and no age restrictions. The songs are arranged in a way that builds up texture and harmony to create a stunning overall effect, whilst at the same time having parts suitable for singers of any ability.

Rising Voices is a community choir in the truest sense of the word. We take our singing seriously and strive for high standards in performing, but it is important to us that everyone is included and having fun at the same time. Each rehearsal starts with tea and cake and a chat, and often finishes with a rousing reprisal of the evening's songs over the washing up!

Practices take place at the United Reform Church Hall, Risinghurst, near Headington, on a Sunday evening from 7.30-9pm in the main hall behind the church. Feel free to turn up on the night, or if you'd like to get in touch beforehand email Cat on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
