Rising Voices are all set for a fantastic Christmas - armed with literally hundreds of songs about shepherds, we will be gracing the city of Oxford with our presence on a number of occasions over the festive season.

Friday 2nd December - We are featured in the performance of 'Boundaries' - a new piece which was commissioned as part of the Cohesion festival. (We'll be singing a song about shepherds.)

Sunday 4th December - We'll be singing at Oxford Castle as part of the annual 'Carols at the Castle' event, in support of Oxford Folk Festival. We will most likely be partaking in the ancient traditions of Krispey Kreme and La Tasca, as is customary on such occasions.

Sunday 11th December is the Folk Carol Service in the United Reform Church, in Risinghurst. Organised by local folk legend Julie Kimber-Nicholson, this is a really lovely service and features performances from many young musicians as well as community carols, spots from Rising Voices and the Oxford Fiddle Group, and, you guessed it, songs about shepherds.

More performances to be confirmed in the next few weeks so watch this space!

Rising Voices

Rising Voices is a community choir in the truest sense of the word; there are no auditions to join, and each rehearsal starts with tea and cake and a chat, and often finishes with a rousing reprisal of the evening's songs over the washing up!

All the songs are taught by ear so there is no need to be able to read music.
