On Thursday 13th July, 7pm, at the Vale & Downland Museum in Wantage, The Mad Hatters present an evening celebrating Thomas Hardy and his relationship with the Wantage area. Hardy used the Wantage and Oxford area as the setting for Jude the Obscure. Hardy was also a fiddle player, from a family of musicians.

This performance features readings from Hardy's poems, short stories and extracts from his novels, as well as music from the Hardy family manuscripts and folk songs from Dorset

This is a fund raising event for the Vale & Downland Museum, Church Street, Wantage, OX12 8BL and is part of the Wantage Summer Festival.

Tickets are £7 (includes drink/nibbles) and are available in advance from the Vale & Downland Museum:
