Out of Hand

Out of Hand – in a short time they have made a real name for themselves as a young and vibrant band. You may have already seen them at Chippenham Folk Festival, Sidmouth FolkWeek or Village Pump Festival. They are putting modern twists on traditional tunes and writing new music, too. Here’s the band playing the Economy set.

The line-up features: Penny Kempson on fiddle, Stuart Duncan on whistle and banjo, Will Sartin on mandolin and tenor guitar, David Dailly on guitar, Richard Portlock on bass guitar, Chris Campbell on drums and their caller Rhianwen Davies.

Three Pressed Men perform our half-time spot this month, with energetic English tunes, songs on hammer dulcimer, guitar, accordions, harmonica … and lots of concertinas!

There is a licensed bar serving real ales from the White Horse Brewery, real cider, wine and soft drinks.  Tickets on the door: £10 adults, £7 concessions (12-18, students, OAPs). See our website www.oxfolk.org.uk for details of family and group discounts.

Oxfolk is a long-running ceilidh series that is currently based in Kennington Village Hall, just outside the Oxford ring road and a few minutes from the A34. Dances run from October to May on the second Saturday of the month, although the April dance is usually run in conjunction with Folk Weekend: Oxford, so doesn't follow the normal pattern.
