Viola player Beth Gifford and piano accordion player Mat Brookes are a duo playing wonderful dance music. You may know them as half of ceilidh band Take the Biscuit.
Gifford and Brookes met at Sidmouth Folk Festival and first played together in the "Asbo Tent" sessions. The combination of their instruments immediately struck a chord and this year they also discovered their joint loves of singing and composition.
With diverse influences from Jazz Pianist Hiromi, Steve Reich, Ceilidh Bands Chalktown and Saxophony to folk club favourites Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr and Kate Rusby they combine traditional material with original songs and tunes to create a fresh and individual sound.
