Zoom Ceilidh - Oxfolk presents Beth Gifford and Matt Brookes, with Lisa Heywood - Fri Mar 12, 8:00 pm

Viola player Beth Gifford and piano accordion player Mat Brookes are a duo playing wonderful dance music. You may know them as half of ceilidh band Take the Biscuit.
Gifford and Brookes met at Sidmouth Folk Festival and first played together in the "Asbo Tent" sessions. The combination of their instruments immediately struck a chord and this year they also discovered their joint loves of singing and composition.

With diverse influences from Jazz Pianist Hiromi, Steve Reich, Ceilidh Bands Chalktown and Saxophony to folk club favourites Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr and Kate Rusby they combine traditional material with original songs and tunes to create a fresh and individual sound.

Lisa Heywood is a folk dance caller with over 10 years of experience. She is known for her creative and enthusiastic style, and aims to make every dance as inclusive as possible. She has a varied repertoire of traditional and self-written dances – including ones especially written to be done at home by one or more people.
