Oxfolk Zoom Ceilidh with Brown Boots and Will Chamberlain, with Erin Mansfield Friday Feb 12th, 8pm

Oxfolk Brown Boots

Brown Boots is Will Allen on melodeon and Martin Clarke on fiddle. They have a fresh, inventive and whimsical take on traditional tunes, with a scattering of their own thrown in. Their musical background is rooted in dance music including morris, rapper and of course, ceilidh. Will plays with the ever-inventive Urban Folk Theory, while Martin plays with the sparkling Silver Street Ceilidh Band along with tonight’s guest Will Chamberlain on piano. The Brown Boots debut album ‘First Steps’ certainly brightened our 2020.
Erin Mansfield will be calling the dances. Erin's style is no-fuss clarity with enthusiasm and fun. She has a broad repertoire of dances from the British Isles and beyond which she calls at functions and festivals across the country.
Oxfolk's online ceilidhs are brilliant for people of all ages and we love to see the inventive and joyous dancing from the families, groups of housemates, solo dancers and couples that join us for an evening of collective fun.
The dance will take place live in Zoom. Tickets are available from

Jackie Oates & John Spiers' Christmas Concert - Available until Wed Jan 6th

Join Jackie Oates and John Spiers from Jackie's festive living room in Wallingford, as they perform newly arranged traditional Christmas songs and tunes.

The performance will appear in the form of a pre recorded video live concert, filmed at Jackie's house in Wallingford, interspersed with interviews and chat from various locations around John's home village of Wootton. The private link for the video will be e mailed to each ticket holder on Monday 21st December, and will be available for a month thereafter.

Multi award-winning contemporary folk duo Jackie Oates and John Spiers meld together their love of English traditional folk tunes and songs with their voices and acoustic instruments, resulting in a fresh sound that is uplifting, joyful and poignant.

John and Jackie, already admiring of each other’s work, met through the vibrant folk scene of Oxford and its surrounding villages, after Jackie moved to the area. They began playing music together shortly after, through regular appearances at Nettlebed Folk Club, special festival sets, a live set for BBC Radio 3 and John’s contribution to Jackie's seventh album The Joy of Living. Their debut, homespun album, 'Needle Pin, Needle Pin' was released during March of this year.
