There are a number of different types of step dance, but the two main ones that you will see being danced around Oxfordshire are British step clog dancing and Appalacian clog dancing.

Clog is an example of percussive dance, meaning the main point of the dance is the variety of sounds you can make by banging and tapping your feet in different ways. Clog dancing Britsh-style is done in wooden clogs with leather uppers, whereas the Appalacian style is danced in tap shoes.

You might have seen the BBC's Come Clog Dancing which first aired at the end of 2010.
