Doncaster based singer, Piers Cawley recorded his debut album The Isolation Sessions on three afternoons during lockdown – three volumes of unaccompanied folk songs.

“I’ve always loved the sound of unaccompanied singing,” Piers said, “and I am always keen to hear more of it. The crowdfunder campaign is my attempt to demonstrate that there is an audience for that. After all, if a debut release from a 53 year old bloke like me can raise over £2500, then I’m sure there’s an audience for more established acts.”

Piers started singing in school choirs and then as a chorister under Magnus Black at St Georges church in Doncaster. He discovered folk song at university and has loved it ever since. The songs on The Isolation Sessions have been accumulated over thirty five years and once he started he found it hard to stop. “I should really have stopped after the second session and set about crowdfunding a CD then,” he says, “but after the third session I had recorded more music than will fit on a single CD, so our stretch goal was to fund a double CD release. If you wait as long as I have to make your debut, why not make it a double album?”
