Jon Boden is best known is the lead singer of the progressive folk juggernaut Bellowhead who sold 250,000 albums, had seven singles playlisted on Radio 2 and sold out hundreds venues including The Royal Albert Hall. Since Bellowhead split up in 2016 Jon has continued his development as one of the foremost names in English folk music.
As a solo artist Jon performs the self-penned songs from his albums Songs From The Floodplain, Painted Lady and Afterglow, as well as material from Bellowhead, Spiers & Boden, and his A Folk Song A Day project in which he recorded 365 folk songs in one year, and from his latest album Rose In June (Nov ’19, Hudson Records).
Jon Boden has become the “stand out performer of his generation” of traditional English folk artists (The Guardian), but he is one whose repertoire extends far beyond the boundaries of the genre. Widely respected as an interpreter of traditional song, Jon’s solo shows also showcase his instrumental talents on fiddle, guitar and concertina, as well as his trademark ‘stomp box’ which he and John Spiers introduced into to the world of traditional music in 2001.
Through his solo work and his work with Bellowhead and Spiers & Boden Jon has won eleven BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and we are absolutely delighted to welcome him to Live to your Living Room for a live, real-time performance.
