Headington Quarry Morris Dancers to honour Michael Black
This year we will be honouring the celebrated sculptor Michael Black, by performing The Dance of the Heads Morris Dance, specially composed in the 1970s to honour Michael.
06:00hrs, 1st May Outside of The Anchor Inn, 2 Hatfield Road, Jericho, OX2 6TT
When Michael Black had completed replacing the stone heads that surround the Sheldonian Theatre back in 1973 a celebratory Morris Dance called The Dance of the Heads was composed and performed on 1st May in Michael’s Honour.
This year, following the sad news of Michael’s passing, Headington Quarry Morris Dancers will again perform The Dance of the Heads on May Day outside The Anchor Inn. This year Headington will be joined by Eynsham Morris and Cry Havoc to provide a spectacular and entertaining early morning performance.
So why not get up early and go along to the Anchor Inn in Jericho to join in the fun? Don’t forget to bring some change for the dancers and for breakfast afterwards!
