Join Oxfolk for a ceilidh round your place - your kitchen, living room - anywhere that's big enough for you to have a dance. Online ceilidhs work just as well for one person and their favourite broom-dance-partner or household groups. Push back the furniture, and have some fun!
Banter - the trio with a huge sound - the world’s smallest big band!
They are Simon Care on melodeon, Nina Zella on keyboards and vocals and Tim Walker on drums, percussion, brass and vocals. They are rooted in English traditional music, yet also incorporate influences from pop, jazz, soul and big band. With ridiculously danceable tunes and cool vibes we are going to have the best time dancing to them.
“Unmistakeable pumping melodeon, screaming brass and visceral vocals!” – Jack Rutter (Seth Lakeman Band)
“Funky brass, unexpected jazz chords, thought-provoking songs” – Jude Abbott (Chumbawamba)
The caller is Barry Goodman, with his trademark reassuring manner and brilliant way of explaining dances quickly and clearly. Banter and Barry worked together at Oxfolk in January 2020 and we are delighted to have them back together again. Barry has adapted dances for 1 to 4 people, that work well when danced at home, so push back the furniture, pour yourselves a drink and come and have a laugh.
Oxfolk's online ceilidhs are brilliant for people of all ages and we love to see the inventive and joyous dancing from the families, groups of housemates, solo dancers and couples that join us for an evening of collective fun.
