The Covid-19 crisis resulted in the cancellation of all events and the closure of many venues listed on this site for several weeks / months.
This means a a catastrophic loss of income for musicians and performers. Please support them through this period by buying their CDs and supporting the online events and services many are providing.
As a means of promoting the online events we have added a new "Online Events" category (previously called Virtual Events) to both the Calendar and Top level menus in which to list any events, activitiues and services that we are made aware of.
If you are organising, or know, an appropriate online event, activity or service please let us know by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Set dancing is social dancing for adults to traditional Irish music done purely for fun, so if you are sociable, adult, like dancing to music and having fun then you're good to go. (You don't have to be Irish or traditional to do it).

Set Dancing is not Riverdance. Riverdance is based on Irish step dancing, which is largely a solo discipline done for competitive or display purposes. Set Dancing is nothing like that; it is social dancing done purely for fun. Bill Lynch's article The Joy of Sets describes it well and his website sets.ie is an essential reference for the subject.
