STICK IN THE WHEEL & JOHN SPIERS

THOMAS HUGHES MEMORIAL HALL, UFFINGTON.

SATURDAY, APRIL 1st,

Stick in the Wheel are a five piece London band making their first trip to Uffington hot on the heels of the release of their new record “From Here: English Folk Field Recordings”. It features the band themselves and some of the greats of folk music including Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy, Sam Lee, Jon Boden, Fay Heald, Sam Sweeny and John Kirkpatrick.

Their growing reputation comes from their stand out live performances, their sessions for 6 Music and Mark Radcliffe’s Radio 2 Folk Show, their debut album which was the fRoots album of the year 2015 and their multiple BBC Folk Awards nominations.

Stripped back to their bare components their songs tell tales of everyday life from car boot swindlers and lorry drivers to 17th century madhouses and hammer wielding blacksmiths.

“A great live band” The Guardian.

On the bill with them will be squeezey John Spiers who needs no introduction. It is great to have him back at Uffington!

Tickets are £12 each from 01367 820282.

All proceeds to Prospect Hospice in Wroughton.
