Banter, a trio with the impact of a big band, is one of England’s busiest and newest ceilidh bands. Featuring Simon Care on squeezeboxes, Nina Zella on piano and vocals and Tim Walker on percussion and cornet. They are about having a great night of traditional English dance tunes and songs, played with a cheeky twist! After a fantastic summer season at festivals including Towersey, Glastonbury, Sidmouth and Bromyard they have become one of the “must-see” bands on the circuit because they always give a great show that leaves you with dancing feet and lots of smiles.

They are joined by the dynamic and enthusiastic caller, Andy Rouse. He has a broad repertoire of dances; some easy, some a little more challenging and some downright silly!

The Vale Islanders perform 17th century country dances with gusto and aplomb. They dance in period costume and you can enjoy them during the interval.

Tickets are available on the door: £10 adults, £7 concessions (12-17s, students, pensioners), £1 5-11s and free under 5s. See for details of family and group discounts.

Oxfolk is a long-running ceilidh series that is currently based in Kennington Village Hall, just outside the Oxford ring road and a few minutes from the A34. Dances run from October to May on the second Saturday of the month, although the April dance is usually run in conjunction with Folk Weekend: Oxford, so doesn't follow the normal pattern.
