Steve Tilston is one of our most celebrated songsmiths, widely recognised within the world of folk and contemporary music; the words, arrangements and subtle, quite superb guitar playing could be no one else.

Fatea Awards Male Vocalist of the Year 2015, proof if needed, that after 45 years in the business Steve can still deliver the goods! The hugely talented award-winning performer presents an intimate evening of music, featuring unique arrangements of popular folksongs alongside his own critically acclaimed material.

Perhaps best known for his song-writing prowess, Steve is also a blinding, dazzling guitarist with a style echoing the elaborate rhythmic “folk baroque” of Bert Jansch and Davy Graham, but also drawing from classical, roots and the tradition to create a sound that has been called “quintessentially Tilston”.

Forty five years on and Steve’s on as fine form as ever with no signs of him slowing down just yet… the award-winning The Reckoning (“Best Original Song” Folk Awards 2012), plus appearances on Later with Jools Holland, BBC Four’s Songwriters’ Circle.

“...great stuff...great fun, wonderful playing and top songs, what more do you want from an evening.” Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2

“A great narrator on top form.” **** The Observer

“…a fine and thoughtful songwriter and singer and a remarkable guitarist.” **** The guardian

“…songs of great heart, delivered with authority and instrumental panache.” **** The Scotsman

Laphooka

Are an Oxfordshire based 5-piece band of all different shapes and sizes.

Together they play original songs & tunes (along with a clutch of covers). They range from folk-pop, upbeat foot-tapping, dancing-shoes-on numbers through to beautiful ballads and instrumentals. From whistles and bag-pipes to bouzouki and mandolin, from diatonic accordion to all manner of guitars. And bass & drums of course. Multi-part harmony vocals complete the sound.
